NEPAD (New Partnership for Africa's Development)

The New Partnership for Africa's Development Agency (NEPAD) is the development agency of the African Union and the implementing body of Action 2063 - the continent's strategic framework for socio-economic transformation over a 50-year period. It is in this context of reform for better implementation that the NEPAD Agency, through various programmatic interventions with the continent's countries, is striving to enable the continent's populations to see "The Africa we want" through Agenda 2063 and its first 10-year implementation plan.
The NEPAD Agency works within the framework of Action 2063, drawing on the first 10-year implementation plan, which is a common strategic framework for inclusive growth and sustainable development. Through this continental vision, as the African Union's development agency, NEPAD works to build an "integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, led by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force on the international scene".
The mandate of the NEPAD Agency is as follows:
NEPAD mandate:

Sustainable management of natural resources and environmental resilience
The current areas of activity of the NEPAD Agency are:
Human capital development (skills, youth, employment and women's empowerment)

There are currently just over 40 programmes and projects being implemented by the NEPAD Agency. The NEPAD Agency, now present in 53 of the 55 African Union Member States, has adopted a results-based approach and aligned its interventions with the first 10-year implementation plan for Action 2063.
