The objective of the Independent Delivery Unit (IDU) is to implement the action plan adopted by the AREI Board of Directors.

The deployment phase:
Official launch of AREI's activities, which include mobilizing resources, setting up the governance and management structure and identifying projects that will be awaiting implementation,

Operationalization phase (2018-2020):
In cooperation with bilateral and global partners, assessments, preparations and critical enabling activities at the African continental level as well as in a number of pioneering countries. Achievement of at least 10GW of new and additional energy production capacity.

Development phase (2020-2030):
Ambitious large-scale deployment of nationally defined policies and programmes and incentives proposed in Phase 1. Continuity in the identification of projects, their evaluations and revisions for an increase of at least 300 GW of new and additional energy production capacity from renewable energy sources.
